Hamerland Tours Ethiopia is more than a travel company, it’s a gateway to the heart and soul of Ethiopia. Founded in 2010 by Nibret Adem, the company has grown into one of Ethiopia’s most respected tour operators, offering immersive, unforgettable journeys to travelers from around the world.

Nibret, known affectionately as Nibby, was born and raised in the Omo Valley among the Ari, Beena, and Hamer tribes. Surrounded by cultural richness, he developed a deep respect for Ethiopia’s heritage. Inspired by foreign visitors, he taught himself English and began guiding travelers to nearby communities. His passion led him to pursue a degree in Tourism Management, laying the foundation for Hamerland Tours.

With a focus on cultural and environmental preservation, and a love for storytelling and photography, Nibret built a company known for its authenticity, professionalism, and exceptional service. Today, Hamerland Tours specializes in custom travel experiences across Ethiopia, from the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela to the vibrant tribes of the Omo Valley, and from trekking in the Simien Mountains to wildlife safaris in Bale and Gambela to otherworldly wilderness of Danakil Depression.

We offer a wide range of tours, including cultural and historical journeys, nature and wildlife safaris, trekking adventures, bird watching, and photography and filming expeditions. Through our sister company, FilmingInEthiopia.com, we also provide professional support for film and documentary productions, making us one of the leading production partners in the country. Nibby is a Photographer and Tourism Management graduate, has been actively working in the industry since 2005, collaborating with renowned names in the field. With a deep passion for travel and adventure, he has explored over 36 countries worldwide. This extensive experience enables him and his company to design and deliver exceptional services, ensuring a deep understanding and positive engagement with clients.

Habte is our English-speaking driver-guide, has over 12 years of experience in the industry and has been a valued member of the Hamerland team since 2018. His kind and down-to-earth personality has consistently been appreciated by our clients.

Mr. Haimanot Defere 

Mr. Haimanot with over 30 years of industry experience, has been advising us and serving as our field chef for remote productions. He has been an integral part of our team since 2019.
